This comic is unopened in the original sealed store plastic wrap; never touched. It lists here at 1000 to 1200. Would it be worth getting it certified or is the way it is still sealed enough? Do they cut it open when they grade it? Doesn't that degrade it validity? Just wondering. I'm looking for $900 for it and need to know the way about this, please help. Dave

Hi Dave,

To maximize the value of your book, if it truly is a 9.9 or 10, you would need to have the book certified by a grading agency (CGC, PGX, etc.). If you try to sell the book as a Mint copy without any type of certification, you are not likely to receive much for the book (i.e., probably $5 or less). As a bit of a warning, if you are not familiar with the grading of the professional services you may be disappointed in the grade you receive - grades of 9.9 or 10 are few and far between. On the other hand, if your book does grade as a 9.9 or a 10, you should definitely fetch more than $5.

When grading, CGC does remove the book from confinement. It would be very difficult to grade a book that is sealed within plastic.
