We are trying to value some comics found in my father in laws home. He signed his name on the first inside page of some. How badly does this affect value?

Hey Chowbella - welcome to Nostomania! While this may bother some collectors, as far as grading it should not affect the value at all. In fact, on many famous collections an original owner signature is considered a positive thing - it provides provenance. One example is the Lamont Larson collection. Most copies have his name right on the cover, and the professional grading companies and most collectors consider this a good thing which does not affect value at all. Don't do anything hasty if Nostomania says you have any valuable books! And let us know if we can help further with assessment.
