Re: FEBRUARY COMICS MARKET REPORT

Hi Tommy...

Pleased to see that there appears to be some developing interest in books from NEDOR.
My copy of AMERICA'S BEST #10 with the Classic Flag Cover, CBCS graded 4.5 is listed
at $1,280...could improve with time.

While my copy of BATMAN #253 is not from the Golden Age, it is truly a very unique and
creative comic book, combining BATMAN and THE SHADOW in one well written story.
Bought this book at the PASSAIC BOOK CENTER a few years back...now off to CBCS
for conservation.

I know that Funny Animal Comics are not the most popular titles in the collecting community but
I must admit I was a fan. There is an interesting article in this weeks (03/25) SCOOP NEWSLETTER
"The Story Of THE FOX AND THE CROW" who were first in animated cartoons in the early 1940s
then featured in REAL SCREEN FUNNIES, COMIC CAVALCADE then in their own title.
I always enjoyed them in the cartoons and was truly pleased to find them on the newsstand.
I have issue #2 and believe I had #1 at one time.

Some coverless comics contain splash pages that are better than the original cover..
while some of the splash pages are the same as the cover with slight variation.

Noticed in the current COMIC CONNECT auction a copy of MARVEL SPOTLIGHT #2 "WEREWOLF
BY NIGHT" with a bid of $3,200-. Reminded me that I had a copy of that issue in a 1974 reprint
on POWER RECORDS titled "THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF!" Nowhere on the 20+ page book
is there a mention of MARVEL COMICS...but the record does contain copyright by MARVEL
COMICS GROUP.

Agree Marty, there are some fantastic splash pages lurking in relative obscurity. One downside of forever encapsulating a comic. Isn't it something how even coverless comics are now often treasures.

And on those cool Power Record sets - Nostomania does have those in the database, just search Power Record Comics, your Werewolf By Night issue is there. Or even easier, here is a link!

Just added an image of GIRLS' LOVE STORIES #1, DC's first Romance Comic...not really sure
how I acquired this book as I know I never bought it, but I do remember trading books back
and forth with a friend in the apartment building who had a sister...think it might have gotten
mixed in...still I'm glad I have it.
