About the Nostomania 500

The Nostomania 500 is a stock market index that measures the performance of 500 comic books chosen by Tommy Jasmin to represent not only the most desired and valuable comics, but to also represent a great deal of diversity and genres. Scroll down to see all 500 members of our index.

You will see key issues and 1st appearances that show up on many top-comics lists (such as the respected Overstreet Top Comics lists), but you will also see issues that are simply representative of the strengths of certain genres.

Our index is very similar to the Standard & Poor 500, in that it uses an algorithm which normalizes the wide range of values and turnover represented by its members. In fact if you compare the Nostomania 500 with the historic S&P 500, you'll see that the index values track very similarly over time, with the exception that unlike business stocks, comic books seem to be recession-proof. If you are a collector or investor, and focus on building a portfolio of these comic books, over time you will do quite well. Of course nobody can predict the future with 100% certainty, but now you can monitor your investments daily.

Do you believe a certain comic book has been omitted, that deserves a spot in the Nostomania 500? I would be happy to hear your views on this. As with well-known stock indeces, companies do come and go over time. Just remember, if a comic book is added, another must go, and there must be justification for the one removed as well. Note also, we cannot include modern comics, since we can only use comic books that have existed for the entire time period our sales data represents. The actual sales data can be traced to the source when you research details on any individual issue.
